Dance Individual Project Funding

The Dance Individual Project Funding program supports Alberta-based individual dance artists in the development, creation, and presentation of artistic dance projects that contribute to their personal and professional growth.
  • Alberta Foundation for the Arts
Overview of the Dance Individual Project Funding program:

The Dance Individual Project Funding program provides financial support to professional Alberta-based dancers, choreographers, and dance practitioners to pursue time-limited, project-specific activities that advance their practice in any dance style or genre. Administered by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA), this grant helps artists fund artistic creation, production, research, training, and career development opportunities that align with their artistic goals. Eligible projects may include the development of new choreography, the rehearsal and production of performance works, participation in workshops or mentorships, or research in new techniques or methods. The focus is on individual artistic progression rather than group or institutional work. The program is not intended for full company productions or commercial entertainment, but rather for artistic projects with strong personal intent and artistic merit. Projects are assessed by peer committees based on artistic impact, feasibility, professional relevance, and clarity of presentation. Applicants are encouraged to present thoughtful timelines, budgets, and documentation to support their proposals
