Technology Leadership

If you work in the agriculture, food or feed processing, precision agriculture, data technology or any other industry that can contribute to the growth of the value-added processing sector and have a great idea or creative solution to help secure Canada’s position as a global leader in the production of plant protein – this is the place to start!
  • Protein Industries Canada
Overview of the Technology Leadership program:

The Protein Industries Canada (PIC) Technology Program is an initiative designed to support Canadian companies in the plant-based food and ingredients sector by funding collaborative innovation projects. This program aims to enhance Canada's position as a global leader in the production of sustainable, high-quality plant proteins. Through this program, companies can accelerate their research, development, and commercialization of new technologies and products.

Benefits of the Technology Leadership program:
  • The PIC Technology Program provides significant benefits by offering funding to support collaborative projects focused on plant-based innovation. Companies involved in the program can receive up to 50% of project costs, enabling them to undertake larger and more ambitious projects than they might otherwise afford. This funding can be used for various purposes, including research and development, scale-up activities, and commercialization efforts. By participating, companies can also gain access to a network of industry partners, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing that can further enhance their innovations.
Eligibility criteria of the Technology Leadership program:
  • To be eligible for the PIC Technology Program, companies must meet the following criteria:
  • Location: The lead applicant must be a Canadian-registered entity.
  • Sector Focus: The project must be related to the plant-based food and ingredients sector.
  • Collaboration: The project must involve collaboration between at least two organizations, which could include industry partners, research institutions, or other stakeholders.
  • Innovation: The project should focus on developing new technologies, processes, or products that contribute to the advancement of the plant-based sector.
