Overview of the Alberta Heritage Markers Program program:

The Alberta Heritage Markers Program is an initiative by the Government of Alberta aimed at preserving and promoting the province's rich historical and cultural heritage. Through this program, heritage markers are placed at significant sites across Alberta, providing educational information and insights into the province's history, people, and events that have shaped its development.

Benefits of the Alberta Heritage Markers Program program:
  • Funding is available to support initiatives which will strengthen Alberta's history through heritage markers placed at roadside pullouts, within parks, and in other community areas.
Eligibility criteria of the Alberta Heritage Markers Program program:
  • Any individual, organization or municipality can submit a proposal for a heritage marker.
  • The proposed topic must be of provincial significance. Preference is given to those that are currently underrepresented among existing markers.
