The Beneficial Management Practices (BMP) Program is an on-farm cost-share initiative designed to assist farm and ranch operations in British Columbia (BC) in mitigating environmental risks identified through their Environmental Farm Plans (EFPs).

Overview of the Beneficial Management Practices Program- (BMP) Water Infrastructure program:

The BMP Program offers financial support to BC farmers and ranchers for implementing practices and technologies that address high-risk activities or emerging challenges in agriculture. The program is structured into seven categories: Plans, Technical Assessments, or Engineered Designs: Funding for prerequisite plans, assessments, and designs required by other BMP project-oriented categories. Biodiversity Projects: Initiatives aimed at enhancing biodiversity on agricultural lands. Energy & Fuel Efficiency Projects: Projects focused on improving energy and fuel efficiency in farming operations. Nutrient & Waste Management Projects: Efforts to manage nutrients and waste effectively to minimize environmental impact. Riparian & Grazing Projects: Activities that protect riparian areas and promote sustainable grazing practices. Soil Carbon Projects: Projects aimed at increasing soil carbon sequestration. Water Infrastructure Projects: Initiatives to improve water management infrastructure on farms. To participate, applicants must have a valid (less than five years old) and completed Environmental Farm Plan. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with specific application windows for each category.

  • Project Alignment: Proposed projects must align with the eligible activities and objectives outlined in the BMP Program categories.
