Overview of the Bioenergy and Circular Economy program:

The Bioenergy and Circular Economy Program by Alberta Innovates is designed to support the development of innovative technologies and processes that advance Alberta's bioenergy sector and promote a circular economy. This program aims to foster sustainable economic growth by funding projects that convert waste materials into valuable products, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create new opportunities in the bioenergy and circular economy sectors.

Benefits of the Bioenergy and Circular Economy program:
  • Project funding can be up to and typically does not exceed $2 million per project from the Process. The continuous intake programs normally support 25 50% of total project costs, with remaining funding from other project partners and other funding agencies (including cash and in-kind support).
Eligibility criteria of the Bioenergy and Circular Economy program:
  • To be eligible for the Bioenergy and Circular Economy Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Location: The project must be based in Alberta.
  • Sector Focus: The project must focus on bioenergy, waste conversion, or circular economy initiatives.
  • Project Readiness: The project should be at a stage where funding can significantly impact the development and commercialization of the technology or process.
  • Alignment with Program Objectives: The project must align with the program's goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, or contributing to a circular economy.
