The Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) aids the Canadian agricultural sector in aligning with the Government of Canada's growth and policy goals. It does so by investing in the creation and implementation of tools and strategies that help the sector respond to and take advantage of these opportunities. Program Overview CASPP aims to fund projects that tackle national or sector-wide priorities, helping the industry address new challenges and leverage opportunities. To qualify for funding, applicants must clearly identify the issue facing the Canadian agriculture, agri-food, or agri-products sector. They must also explain how their project will benefit the sector and align with one or more of the following four priority areas: Adaptation to new technology Environmental sustainability Strategic planning and capacity building Addressing emerging issues

Benefits of the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) program:
  • The goal of the program is to focus on
  • Helping the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector ('agricultural sector') take advantage of a situation or circumstance to develop a new idea, product, niche, or market opportunity
  • Respond to new and emerging issues (address sector issues that were unknown or not a concern before)
  • Find and test solutions to new and ongoing issues to adapt and remain competitive
Eligibility criteria of the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) program:
  • Eligible Applicants:
  • For-profit and not-for-profit organizations, such as businesses, industry associations, and non-profits involved in the agriculture sector.
  • Indigenous groups, cooperatives, and other organizations.
  • Academic and research institutions.
  • Project Requirements:
  • Projects must address a key issue or opportunity in the Canadian agriculture sector.
  • The project should align with at least one of these priorities:
  • Adapting to new technology
  • Promoting environmental sustainability
  • Enhancing strategic planning and capacity building
  • Tackling emerging issues
  • Additional Conditions:
  • Projects must have a national or sector-wide impact, not just a local one.
  • Funding is not available for regular business operations or ongoing maintenance.
