Overview of the Community Facility Enhancement Program- Small program:

CFEP Small aims to foster healthy, vibrant communities across Alberta by supporting non-profit organizations in developing and improving public-use facilities. Eligible projects include the acquisition, construction, renovation, or expansion of facilities that serve arts, cultural, heritage, recreational, or sport purposes. The program operates on a matching basis, requiring applicants to contribute an amount equal to or exceeding the CFEP grant request towards the project's expenses. Matching resources can include cash, donated labor, equipment, or materials. The program has three application deadlines annually—January 15, May 15, and September 15—with corresponding notification dates in July, November, and March, respectively. Projects must be completed within 18 months from the date the payment is received by the organization.

  • Societies Act
  • Companies Act (Part 9)
  • Libraries Act
  • Agricultural Societies Act
  • Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act
  • Federal Income Tax Act (charities section)
  • First Nations and Metis Settlements.
  • Ineligible Applicants:
  • Municipalities and their agencies.
  • For-profit organizations.
  • Entities providing primarily private-sector support.
  • Educational institutions, including universities, colleges, and schools.
  • Organizations with overdue or incomplete grant reporting.
  • Eligible Projects:
  • Acquisition, construction, renovation, or expansion of public-use community facilities serving arts, culture, recreation, sports, or heritage purposes.
  • Ineligible Projects:
  • Facilities with restricted or private access.
  • Gaming-related projects or activities.
  • Debt repayment or operational expenses.
  • Facilities primarily serving the commercial or private sectors.
