  • Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation
Overview of the Direct Loans program:

For many farmers, access to credit is essential for maintaining and expanding their operations. While many established farmers have no trouble obtaining credit from traditional institutions, younger and expanding farmers with less proven collateral and/or capability can sometimes find it difficult to obtain the credit they need on the terms they want. The Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation can assist you with the financial arrangements necessary to make your operation successful. MASC's Direct Loans provide beginning and established farmers with short, intermediate, and long-term financing at reasonable interest rates and flexible repayment terms.

Benefits of the Direct Loans program:
  • Direct Loans can be used for a variety of purposes, such as:
  • Purchase of agricultural land and buildings
  • Purchase of new or used agricultural equipment
  • Permanent improvements to land
  • Construction or renovation of farm production buildings
  • Construction of new homes and/or renovation of existing homes
  • Purchase of breeding stock and supply managed quota (dairy and poultry)
  • Debt consolidation or refinancing
  • Purchase or renovation of nurseries and greenhouses
  • Operating expenses
Eligibility criteria of the Direct Loans program:
  • Applicants must be Manitoba residents who are at least 18 years of age and Canadian citizens or have lawful permanent residence status.
  • Applicants must personally operate the farm to which the loan applies.
  • The farm must be considered potentially viable and meet security requirements.
