Securing Small Business Rebate

The Securing Small Business Rebate Program is a $10.5 million initiative created by the British Columbia Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation.
  • BC Chamber of Commerce
Overview of the Securing Small Business Rebate program:

Property crimes and vandalism pose significant challenges for small businesses, leading to unexpected expenses and operational disruptions. The Securing Small Business Rebate Program is designed to alleviate these burdens by providing financial support for repairing damages and enhancing property security. The program offers two types of rebates: Reparative Rebate: Covers up to $2,000 per calendar year for repairs to commercial properties caused by vandalism occurring on or after January 1, 2023. Eligible expenses include glass replacement, graffiti removal, and structural repairs. Preventative Rebate: Provides up to $1,000 for the installation of preventative measures such as security cameras, window bars, gates, and lighting systems to protect commercial properties. The program is retroactive to January 1, 2023, ensuring that businesses already affected by property crimes can access support. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with rebates available until January 31, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated. This initiative promotes a safer business environment, reduces financial strain, and ensures businesses can continue to operate without the constant threat of property damage.

Benefits of the Securing Small Business Rebate program:
  • Financial Relief: Assists small businesses in offsetting costs related to vandalism repairs and security improvements.
  • Enhanced Security: Supports the installation of preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of future incidents.
  • Promotes Business Continuity: Minimizes the financial impact of property crimes, enabling businesses to focus on growth and operations.
  • Proactive Approach: Encourages businesses to invest in long-term solutions for property safety and security.
