The program supports employers in identifying and implementing job-specific, short-term training tailored to their unique business needs. Employers can determine the type of training required, which could involve enhancing specific technical or operational skills that align with industry standards and future growth objectives. Importantly, training that forms part of the company’s routine business operations, such as onboarding or general workplace policies, does not qualify for funding under this program. SkillsPEI contributes up to 50% of the direct training costs, while employers are responsible for the remaining half. Eligible costs typically include trainer fees, training materials, and facilities used for the training. The program is especially beneficial for businesses seeking to upskill their workforce to meet evolving industry demands or to adapt to technological advancements.

  • Represent one of the following:
  • Private-sector businesses.
  • Industry associations, employer consortia, or sector councils acting on behalf of employers.
  • Band or tribal councils.
  • Non-profit organizations.
  • Training Requirements:
  • The training must be short-term, highly job-specific, and align with the organizations incremental business needs.
  • Training considered part of the organizations routine business operations (e.g., general onboarding or safety training) is not eligible.
