The Artist in Residence Program offers a unique opportunity for artists or artist collectives in Kelowna to engage the community in creative projects that combine artistic excellence and social relevance. Aligning with the 2020-2025 Cultural Plan goals, the program aims to enhance local arts and culture, animate community spaces, and promote thoughtful dialogue on environmental issues. Artists are tasked with creating temporary artworks that incorporate community participation, addressing themes like the environment and climate change. These projects encourage innovation in artistic practices while ensuring accessibility and relevance to Kelowna residents. Selected artists will work on a contract basis, dedicating approximately 20 hours per week over a 10-week period, and will receive $12,000 in funding to cover project costs.
