Overview of the Book Publishing Tax Credit program:

A tax credit to assist book publishers in Manitoba with labour costs. Eligible labour costs include editing, design, typesetting, research, artwork and related publishing activities. Maximum publisher tax credit claim is $100,000. An additional 15% can be claimed on Manitoba printing costs if the is produced on paper with 30% or more recycled content.

Benefits of the Book Publishing Tax Credit program:
  • This program offers a 40% tax credit to Manitoba book publishers for the labour costs incurred in Manitoba. This includes costs such as non-refundable author advances, salaries for editing, design and project management; fees to freelancers for editing, design and research; artwork; prototype development; and set-up and typesetting.
  • Applicants can claim a maximum of $100,000 per year. An addition 10% tax credit is offered if the eligible book is printed on paper with a minimum of 30% recycled content.
