The Changing the Narrative – Unleashing the Full Potential of Women-Owned Enterprises program, initiated by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC), aims to dismantle systemic barriers hindering women-owned social enterprises in Canada's digital economy, with a special focus on Black women and minority groups, including official language minority communities (OLMCs).

Overview of the Changing the Narrative program:

Operating across five Canadian provinces—Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Quebec, and Alberta—this program seeks to engage with 500 women-owned businesses over a 29-month period. It offers mentorship, knowledge exchange, and networking opportunities through the Community Learning & Connectivity Hub, connecting participants with successful startup leaders and social venture mentors from Canada and internationally. The initiative adopts a multifaceted approach, including mentorship opportunities, knowledge mobilization sessions, pitch events, and networking opportunities, all aimed at empowering women-owned social enterprises to thrive in the digital economy.

Eligibility criteria of the Changing the Narrative program:
  • Gender: Self-identify as a woman.
  • Location: Based in Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Quebec, or Alberta.
  • Business Ownership: Enterprise must be majority-owned by women (over 50% ownership).
