Overview of the CSRIF Stream 2: New Builds/Signature New Builds program:

This program supports the construction of new, transformative community sport and recreation infrastructure or the replacement of existing facilities that have reached the end of their lifespan. It targets municipalities, Indigenous organizations, not-for-profits, and for-profits with projects that improve access to sport and recreation, create local jobs, and support health and well-being. Eligible projects must demonstrate community need, provide economic benefits, and address service gaps. Applications are assessed based on criteria like community support, financial sustainability, and alignment with program goals​.

  • Eligible applicants include:
  • Municipalities and local services boards.
  • Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Not-for-profit and for-profit organizations operating in Ontario for over a year. Projects must occur in Ontario, serve the public, and meet community needs. For-profit entities requiring membership fees or organizations funded by other Ontario grants for the same project are ineligible.
