Overview of the Métis Women in Micro Business program:

The Métis Women in Micro-Business Program, offered by Apeetogosan (Métis) Development Inc., is designed to support Métis women entrepreneurs in Alberta. This program focuses on providing financial assistance and business development resources to Métis women who are running or starting small businesses.

Eligibility criteria of the Métis Women in Micro Business program:
  • To qualify for the Metis Women in Micro-Business Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Metis Identity: Must be a Metis woman with a planned or existing business where she holds the majority ownership and control.
  • Location: The business must operate within the Province of Alberta.
  • Metis Nation of Alberta (MNA) Membership: Must submit a valid MNA card as proof of Metis identity.
  • Residency: Must provide proof of residency in Alberta.
  • Previous Funding: Applicant must not have received any prior grant subsidy from Apeetogosan (Metis) Development Inc.
  • Business Type: This program does not support multi-level marketing businesses or franchises.
  • We will allow the funds to be used for legitimate business expenses, these include the following:
  • Commercial rent or lease payments (excluding personal rent)
  • Insurance
  • Wages to arms-length employees
  • Supplies
  • Inventory
  • Small tools
  • Advertising & promotion
  • Fuel & oil
