Overview of the Youth Internships in Northern Ontario program:

FedNor's Youth Internship program provides funding to eligible organizations in Northern Ontario to employ young individuals (aged 30 and under) who have recently graduated from recognized post-secondary institutions. The initiative focuses on integrating youth into the workforce, thereby contributing to regional economic growth. Support is available under three funding programs: Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) Northern Ontario Development Program (NODP) Economic Development Initiative (EDI) Each program has specific criteria and objectives tailored to different aspects of economic development.

Eligibility criteria of the Youth Internships in Northern Ontario program:
  • Eligible applicants include:
  • Not-for-profit organizations
  • Indigenous (First Nation, Metis, Inuit) communities and organizations
  • Municipalities and municipal organizations
  • For-profit organizations are directed to the Community Futures Development Corporations in Northern Ontario for youth internship opportunities.
  • Eligible youth interns must:
  • Be unemployed or underemployed individuals aged 30 and under.
  • Have graduated within the last three years with a degree, diploma, or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Not have previously participated in a FedNor internship or any other federal or provincial internship program with pay for six months or more.
  • Not be related to the directors, officers, or managers of the organization.
