The Greenhouse Technology Network (GTN) is a consortium led by Niagara College, comprising academic and research institutions dedicated to advancing the greenhouse industry through applied research and technological innovation.

Overview of the Greenhouse Technology Network (GTN) program:

GTN facilitates collaborations between businesses and research institutions to address technological challenges within the greenhouse sector. By leveraging state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, and expert knowledge, GTN supports projects aimed at optimizing production, enhancing sustainability, and driving business growth through technology. The network's capabilities include applied genomics, propagation techniques, environmental measurement and analysis, and the development of advanced packing and packaging systems. Funding Amount GTN offers a 1:1 funding match for applied research projects, with industry partner contributions (both cash and in-kind) matched up to a maximum of $100,000 per project, resulting in a total project value of up to $200,000.

Eligibility criteria of the Greenhouse Technology Network (GTN) program:

Eligible projects will support acceleration, development, commercialization, or adoption of technologies related to indoor production of plants (including, for example, greenhouses, vertical farming, controlled environment agriculture, etc.)
Eligible technologies will have the potential to lower operating costs, environmental impacts (energy consumption, resources consumption, carbon footprint), or increase overall competitiveness of greenhouse businesses
Eligible technologies may be at any stage of development when the project begins
Eligible technologies may relate to one or more crops that are (or could be) produced in a controlled environment setting
